I looked into it a little bit, there are a few sites on the IntarTubes where you can create them:

The CryptoPunks marketplace houses the CryptoPunks NFT collection, which includes some of the most expensive NFTs ever sold. The marketplace has the highest average NFT price among major NFT marketplaces and has seen over $2 billion worth of NFT sales.

Depending on the market-place, what currency you get for your NFT varies from actual dollars (I think this is rare) to some sort of crypto-currency.  Also, some of the market places are "exclusive" like the NBA one (I think) i.e.  Not just "Anyone" can mint and sell an NFT in their marketplace.

I have a few pieces & some ideas about turning them into NFTs, but honestly I just scratched the surface on researching it.  Hopefully, that site I quoted from will get you started on some more in depth research on it if you are really interested...

Let me know if you find a decent one that is "open to the public," I might join you in the attempt.  I doubt it is all that lucrative right now....
