No, he was our American exchange student. There were some vicious rumours spread by the jocks and Stacy's that his parents sent him away because he got caught jerkin' it in gym class but that was absolutely false. His shy quiet demeanor and interest in poetry made him an easy target. I befriended him and we formed a Smiths tribute band "The Sweet and Tender Hooligans" The time we played the school assembly was a real turning point for him. I even bought some gladioli for him to flail around. When he got to the part of Reel around the fountain that goes "15 minutes with you, oh I wouldnt say no" several Grade 9 girls swooned.  After that he was quite popular with the ladies, much to his chagrin
