I'm glad that he's back. There really was a void for awhile there that he seems to fill for intellectual honesty (I get that there are others as well- but he has something unique.)

Maybe we need Dr MD MD to make some sense of this.

“Political correctness and its guillotine blade, cancel culture, is the palsy of our days. There is no vaccine for this scourge, and there is no one looking for a vaccine. Peterson’s resistance against both is, in my view, one of the truly virtuous and courageous actions of our time. No wonder he is so viciously maligned.”
Probably the only real journalist in Canada is Murphy.

We get CBC up here, he is great but I suspect his tea is taken with rather too much lemon.

Access to the CBC have I but such outright propaganda is it now that never do I watch it anymore. He is the exception to the rule.

I had assumed that he was a "thing of the past." You are telling me that the communist broadcasting corporation allows him on still? I may have to look him up.

I know not. Years has it been since I have watched because of their horrible propagandizing. Makes sense it does given their shameless communist propagandizing that they would try to get rid of him though.

Peterson is a word salad BS specialist, a humbug, and a pussy. He put out this book giving life advice to young people, then it turned out he got hooked on painkillers. He wasn't man enough to go through withdrawal so he had himself put into a coma and had health complications as a result. Another one of these dodgy characters that the right see as some sort of hero. He isn't, he's a useless cunt.

Honest the last thing, is he. Heard the dumb bastard talk about truth, have you? He can't even accept that there are verifiable facts about the world, he's too busy waffling on about 'narratives '

Specifically, what advice of his disagree with you do and why?
Hold their breath waiting for an answer no one should.

All this advice he gives comes under the heading of being a 'deepity'.
'A deepity is a proposition that seems to be profound because it is actually logically ill-formed. It has (at least) two readings and balances precariously between them. On one reading it is true but trivial. And on another reading it is false, but would be earth-shattering if true. If he says something true it is trivial and obvious. If he says something profound it is false. For instance: his claim that something is true if it is useful, and he uses that false premise to smuggle in religious belief as necessarily true. What JP does is the sort of dialectical logic-chopping that gives the left a bad name and would normally be scoffed at by the right if it wasn't coming from their own side.

He deserves it. I'm too old to be taken in by his shtick. There are good reasons to be wary of people who dispense advice like candy; they're usually hiding something, a big emotional void in their personally that they compensate for by lecturing others. The really sick thing is that he has lots of impressionable young people who fall for it; they get hooked by the trivial obvious stuff and then go on to believe his wilder BS. It's cultish behaviour.

Don't worry, the irony is not lost on me. I have people in my life that do the same thing: advice, advice, advice-- with none of their own wins.
Jordan Peterson is in the business of selling books. And of making appearances on shows to plug those books. He's a fucking sellout.

Obviously he is a very bad influence on young men (in particular.) Offering advice such as "have a goal and work towards it" is abhorrent advice. What advice that he gives do you find particularly objectionable / harmful to his cult followers?

I think I will quote myself to make a point and demonstrate that I am not holding you to a higher standard than I would anybody else...
I read that. And it was one medical expert (others disagreed.) I think he lost me when he said carbon monoxide contributed and under cross examination admitted that he didn't even know if the car was running. Very shoddy. If I were on a jury, I don't know how much weight I would give his opinion vs. the others.
With the above in mind, I will simply point out that Peterson developed a dependence on antidepressants, not pain killers...

It depends what the goal is. A tiny section of the population really has something to offer and being goal-oriented can help achieve that. Most don't, though, and they'd be much happier focusing on what makes them happy and content. I bet Peterson is a Thatcher fan. That old cow couldn't tolerate anyone who didn't have the soul of a narrow-minded Victorian shopkeeper. Peterson is just saying 'you'd all be better off if you were more like me.' Well, that's bullshit.

Perhaps. His 12 rules (previous book) were:
1 Stand up straight with your shoulders back.
2 Treat yourself like you are someone you are responsible for helping.
3 Make friends with people who want the best for you.
4 Compare yourself with who you were yesterday, not with who someone else is today.
5 Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them.
6 Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world.
7 Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient).
8 Tell the truth — or, at least, don’t lie.
9 Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t.
10 Be precise in your speech.
11 Do not bother children when they are skate-boarding.
12 Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street.
Now, I can see where you might prefer to change rule 12 to read "kick a cat when you encounter one on the street." And I assume that rule 8 is out the window for anybody on this forum (and I would say the evidence is strongly against 3 applying to members as well.)
I'm just not sure that I see where the great harm is if people actually made an attempt to follow those rules (or most of his advice.)
*Hell, Jackstar would kill for rule 10 to be applied across society...

1. Yeah, great advice if you were in a trench in WW1. Cunt.
6. Cunt should take his own advice. Bloody windbag.
5. Kids are always going to upset their parents. It's part of life. You don't have the right to treat them like pets.
7. 'Meaningful' is a content-free , waffly word. Getting hooked on pills was pursuing expediency.
8. OK, so tell the Nazis Ann Frank is hiding upstairs. Lying is fine, it's situational. That tosser doesn't understand that.
Basically it's shit on stilts.

8. Now you are reaching. Do you honestly think that is what the entire chapter says- there are no exceptions? Engaged in the manufacture of straw men you are...
6. I think we covered that above. You could not even name the type of drug he ended up dependent on.Tell me Mo, are you sure the car running when you claim CO contributed?
I would imagine the only one allowed to dispense advice is somebody perfect. Good thing you study your bible so closely... At least you can have your one hero unblemished by life and pressures (though not by nails) to follow.

I'm doing my best.
Look, one drug is basically the same as any other as far as I'm concerned. Perhaps that's the reason I never lasted very long at the pharmacy, I used to just reach up to the shelf and throw them whatever packet was nearest. Anyway, I don't think we need quibble over what pill the hypocritical bastard happened to be popping.

Has Mr. Murphy ever been on American television, wonders I? And what would they make of him?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l-mKnHK5n0
More exactly, how would Rex Murphy come across being interviewed on an American network? Controversial Americans have often appeared on the CBC with interesting results. Chris Hedges interviewed by Kevin O'Leary comes to mind. That might have been the last time Mr. Hedges had anything to do with the CBC and it was certainly the last time for Mr. O'Leary as an interviewer. Ann Coulter is another memorable moment, where she kept on insisting to a CBC journalist how Canada had dutifully followed the USA into the Vietnam War. More recently, John Bolton was pushing his book in a CBC interview and he testily responded to a journalist's question he took for sarcasm.
There is no way Mr. Murphy and the CBC will have anything to do with each other during the Justin Trudeau era. There is, however, RexTV.

6 Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world.
Sound advice, on the whole, though I have not read anything by him. I would propose the corollary "Set your body in perfect order before you criticize other people." I could blather on about discipline both physical and mental and the psychological benefits of exercise but ultimately this is self-preservation: when you inevitably encounter the odd silly faggot who, by virtue of experience, has a pretty good idea of how you look naked, he will just point and laugh no matter how eloquently you try to undress him.

Why, thank you. However, it was a photo Laser found for me. I am considering taking on of me and photshopping it to this style. I don't think that "skinny jeans" are going to make any appearance in any picture of me...
