So, I'm through being nice. I will not be reasonable when talking with people supporting the vaccine passports.
My Canadian passport has (for all intents and purposes) been revoked. I can't travel, Can't sit down for a beer in a Canadian province (Quebec), can't visit extended family in the maritimes (I don't have 2 weeks to quarantine and an additional 2 weeks to travel by car as I can't take a plane, a train or a even a boat.) OF course the vaxxed that I know can fly in and fly out the same day while enjoying dinner with their family.
And there is probably a 50+% chance that I will be unemployed by Christmas. I will be buying a few acres outside of town in short order, and when I am fired I will sell my house or rent it out and move. Just stay ahead of what you can see coming.
AS for "don't worry- it will be fine..." How? I have house payments, I have insurance payments. I will have not job, and I will be banned from working for any level of government, anything in the travel industry, and likely even a minimum wage retail job within the year. Maybe I could go back to school and upgrade. But I will not be allowed on any campus...
I don't think anybody would ask an 1930's Jew to sit down to dinner with people supporting slapping a yellow star on him and wishing him unemployed, dead and starving in a gutter.
Fuck them.
Oh brother. Now, fresh from -- what? -- two weeks rock climbing (shirtless) in the Kootenays you decide to throw a fit because you don't have enough vacation left to go traipsing through Newfoundland, coofing hither and yon, while this will be the second year I have not had a proper vacation -- just one long weekend on the coast -- because I have spent too many days doing my folks' grocery shopping. Those of us who have actually taken this seriously are fresh out of sympathy.
As for your job, you have to see how silly it is from my perspective to choose such a tiny hillock to die on, blowing up to monumental importance something I did without really thinking or worrying about it since I (like you, since Canada's national vaxx rate is like Seattle's) live in a society where it isn't socially acceptable to shirk your civic duty. I don't mean in an abstract sense; I knew nobody would take me to the beach if I didn't get stuck. Society expected it of me, and I conformed. You guys and your drawn-out Hamlet acts just make me laugh.
When I worked (tangentially) for a big hospital in town (no patient contact) I had to get a flu shot like everybody else. It sure wasn't because my employer was afraid I might die of the flu; it was to protect their vulnerable patients. This is no different. As we've seen big plants in other industries shut down due to outbreaks it would not be surprising if companies decide to require it purely for practical reasons, to avoid that disruption.
I don't support vaccine passports but only because the Provincetown Bears heroically gave the vaccine the ultimate stress test and proved that, if you are really determined to push the personal-contact thing, you can in fact pass on the virus as a vaxxed person. So the value of the vaxx as a preventative measure goes down considerably, and requiring it to go places seems more punitive than practical. It's too muddy. But if it ever becomes clearer then hell yeah quarantine you filthy coofers and vaxx the bejeezus out of you!
You've ong ago bought in to the whole apocalyptic social-collapse thing and, like all sorts of doomsday prophets, are determined, when civilization refuses to fulfill your predictions and happily goes on strolling about eating ice cream, to pull your own personal society down around your ears on the flimsiest of pretexts in your own private Götterdämmerung and make for your Führerbunker in the country. Which is sad because you are nice, and hot, and people like you (and you are hot).
