That’s John the Baptist talking, you dingbat.  He is talking to the Jews pleading their privileged status as God’s chosen children of Abraham (verse 8 ) warning them that God will cut down their tree and make new children out of stones, understood to be the Gentiles like us.

Nowhere does it say you are to take up the axe.  Keep reading after they ask “what should we do?” Paying particular attention to verse 14, “And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man…”.

And I agree with do no violence. That’s translates as never be the agressor. However, it doesn’t say don’t defend yourself. Turning the other cheek is a metaphor about forgiveness, not how to handle physical violence; although, of course, there is a tradition of martyrdom but this was in a time before there was any media infrastructure to portray them as fascists worthy of death like there is now.

Yeah that is the one people usually quote.  Immediately after He talks of breaking up families, separating parents from their children, a pretty accurate prediction of what would happen to His followers and converts who would be martyred.  He is warning them that many of them will die but “he that loseth his life for My sake shall find it.”  (verse 38). The thing He says to take up is the cross, not the sword.

I am not mocking Christianity, I am mocking you because you are wrong.  Hebrews 3:13 says I have to do it every day, it’s a real commitment 😰

look, Metthew Christian, whether or not that one knows who you are or not, what you are doing is wrong. Here's why: you would have been better served to have just come clean, but instead... oh, look, shenanigans.


So, I am uncertain how I wish to celebrate next. How about with something that isn't salted with toxic additive poisons on purpose that still... I shrugged off? Tell you what... you had your chance to make suggestions.
