I noticed a post (after azzgab went down, I looked at the "BG is dead" thread on ellgab.) Somebody had posted that they were sure everybody would end up there. I know I had posted right after BG went offline (moving to FB is the same thing) that I had put in a request to be a member. It went unanswered, and I realized that I'm probably not suited for Ellgab. Just as well. I'm trying to imagine myself contributing to a board that is missing the politics section. May as well sign up for the facebook group.
Anyhow, the point is that I don't think that it is the case where everybody is wanted at EG. I'm sure that Bert would love to have you there. And maybea few other posters. But a few here would be banned immediately. And others are not welcome to even apply. 
My impression is that multitudes are banned and wholly unwelcome on EG.
Their names, however, are often added and preserved in the members list.
Benefits for admission are not so much the contributing factor,
but the viewing of pics, members post history and forum search.
From my experience, much the same can be said for FB BG.
