I spoke to MV a couple hours ago (to test our audio) and set everything up, and from what he told me, I garnered that he redirected BellGab.com to the Facebook group in order to offer people the ability to contact one another-- even though the actual site was taken offline.

He maintained that he did this as a courtesy. Make of that what you will.

I'm starting to sound like MV's personal assistant and PR guy, and I'm not sure how I feel about that...

This makes sense, in his mind the people who were treating bellgab like Facebook and just talking about themselves and silly things like baking would be able to continue .  I don’t think that is what happened, though.
