I'm glad somebody is asking this. When they said that Ommicron had something like "50 mutations", I had to wonder why we didn't catch any of the other 49. It just seemed to me that all of these mutations in a single step did not make much sense.

"Bang! 50 new mutations in one step." Really?

Also, "the drug that shall not be named" in Japan? Wow. Quite the deceleration on that front. Of course, I don't know that I want to trust an evolutionary biologist. Forbes assures me that the answer is NOT Ivermectin. It seems to hint that they just have enough people vaccinated.  ::)

There are so many mild cases of COVID that just about anything could appear to be beneficial.
