T+19.5 hrs (Hi Hoagie!) general soreness like I did hard labor yesterday especially in my lower legs, and sweating that threatens to turn to chills at the first sign of a draft.  The vax lady (she was great, didn't feel a thing going in) told me that, after the first dose, you get about 80% protection and I read online that Pfizer's efficacy was originally tested one week after the second at 95% so, as far as I am concerned, life returns to normal on June !!

Life has already returned to normal. Shook hands with no fewer then two (2) contractors this afternoon. It was even better than going in the out door.

T+26.5 hours: I did not die of a blood clot in my sleep, feel a little better, headache has subsided, still running hot and cold but mostly hot.  Strangely my sinuses are starting to burn like a respiratory infection, that is not supposed to happen.  Maybe it is just general inflammation.  Calves still very sore and I walk janky, feet hot and red.  I can see where, in some people, this kind of reaction might shake things loose and cause problems, I haven't felt this bad in years 

My mom told me my cousin, a dear woman but terribly flighty and sheltered (traditional housewife who home-schooled her children) went to a drive-up site and had a panic attack, they made her park for half an hour to make sure she was safe to drive afterwards

That is a fate worse than "gay" for most 'Mericans. I would keep that side effect to yourself and just go about promoting the whole "altering your orientation" thing. You will turn fewer people away from the vaccine with that strategy.

Yes, but I was sick after the first one, too.  My folks and big sis and big brother didn't get sick at all, though.  They said it is normal for some people, and some say to let the fever do its thing, the fever and the muscle aches are the immune response which you are trying to provoke.

I hope you get better quickly. I wonder if there is a correlation between how sick you feel from the vaccine and how sick you would be if you contracted Covid without being vaccinated. The pharmacist who gave me the first dose said he got "sick as a dog" after his second dose. Maybe the virus would have offed him. And people who don't suffer any ill effects from the vaccine, would they have been mostly asymptomatic carriers?

I like that journalist's writing style that you linked. I might read his other articles just for fun. Next week I'll be getting the second dose. It's Moderna. Good to know about nsaids, I would have taken some.

I have wondered about the whole drive through thing. At the boarder, they were offering shots for the truckers. Given how many people have a not so good reaction, I wonder how many truckers there are out there driving in the state you presently find yourself in?

The Blackfoot nation was very neighbourly and was offering their excess vaccines to Canadians. You drove across the boarder, stayed in your car, got your shot and drove home. The Canadian government decided that was still "international travel" and you had to quarantine for two weeks.

So the Blackfoot nation shut it down and basically said the government sucked (what else is new) and was dumb (same question as before.) If the idiots in Ottawa want Canadians vaccinated, and people are willing to drive a few hours, and there is excess supply, then why be little tyrants? I heard an interview where the Canadians want the vaccine to be sent here for our health care workers to give it. I would sooner go to the Blackfoot nation just to piss of the government who wants to look like they are able to provide everything for their citizens rather than give a little thanks to our neighbours.

Thank you, honey; I feel better this morning.  I am not sure whether it relates to your vulnerability.  Sukie says it's younger folks around him getting sick.  I wonder if it has to do with um size; the only other guy I know who complained about it isn't smol like me but is absolutely ripped with a stomach like a braided challah.  These are the opposite of the people who seemed most vulnerable to covid itself.

My own guess is that the vaccines were calibrated, appropriately, to the elderly who were dying of it who need an extra jolt to get their immune systems to work and that we regular folks are getting more than we need.  You can find all kinds of articles saying this is not the case and that's not how these vaccines work but, at the same time, the work on a children's vaccine "to minimize side effects" suggests to me it has something to do with size or age or both.

That's what has made me so angry with how information has been put out there, not by doctors so much as by "science communicators" and the kind of people who worry about "messaging".  In the initial phases with limited supply they didn't want people to ask too many questions about what they were being given and just show up and take what was available, since that's best to get more people in the door.  So they tell altruistic lies about it.  It's the same reason the CDC tells me Pfizer is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose when Pfizer tested it at 95% efficacy after one week, because Moderna did their testing after two weeks and the messaging around getting people to distinguish is too complicated, keep it simple and tell everyone two weeks.  Fuck them, it's not their extra week of normalcy that's on the line.
