No that is silly, that's the same paranoia all you guys have been repeating for a year or more, he could basically be anybody on bellgab besides me.  Most importantly it looks (in places with higher vaccination rates) like deaths are not going up with the explosion of cases.  Even here our really olds are super vaxxed so deaths are unlikely to reach their earlier peaks.

The "authorities" (CDC etc.) are preparing us to live with covid as endemic, seasonal, everybody will get it once in a while like the flu, with masks probably in those areas that tolerate them but you will notice even this new recommendation isn't a mandate, they are leaving that up to individual jurisdictions (appropriately) trotting out their new county map https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/07/28/1021795290/cdc-mask-guidelines-indoors-vaccinated-by-county-covid-spread,the trend is very much toward local management instead of national leadership.  I don't hear of any big events being cancelled this fall, it's still full steam ahead.

No you guys are laboring under the illusion someone is in control and this is all a plot but it looks like the CDC is doing its best to wash its hands of the whole thing and give power back to locals.  They probably should have done that in the beginning.  How much people are willing to do to protect the vulnerable varies incredibly.  Sometimes right down the road, it's funny makes me laugh every time -- Costco is full of maskless hollering sweathogs but the organic consumer co-op is still masked up in plexiglass.  Nobody is making them do anything.
