Only busting balls am I but seriously, don’t think I haven’t duly noted and logged this clay bar idea. See one do I in my near future but first a new (or new used) car I want. Suki’s convinced me to go Japanese this time. Get away from American cars now I want to primarily because feel do I that they just don’t really stand behind their product anymore or give a fuck and at least communists the Japanese are not. I am considering Mazda or Toyota. I think I know what side you’ll come down on, Suki but if anyone has any recommendations in this regard please let me know.

One of my coworkers was a gifted mechanic, and he would not only recommend what model and manufacture but what year to avoid. Toyota and Lexus are great.  :D

Thank you for your recommendations. Probably more than I want to spend is Lexus though.

BTW, enjoyed did I your music posted awhile back. The vox were decent and well recorded.

Toyotas were better when they were made in Japan by Toyota. They lost a lot of control when they started outsourcing stuff and building plants in other countries. The early American built Toyotas were still pretty good but not as good as the Japanese built Yotas. People love to talk about how great the 22R and 22RE engines were but i think the 3RZ-FE was better (still made in Japan).

I don't know much about the newer Toyota trucks but they do seem to have more problems. And production of the Tacoma is being moved to Mexico now so quality will probably get worse. Toyota is still the best car company but their quality is slipping. Friend of mine has a newer Camry and it's been trouble free. I tell him he should have the dealer change the tranny fluid but he's to cheap to and don't give a fuck.

All the computer controlled shit is modern cars just creates more problems. Thanks to Greta Thunberg we cant have simple Toyotas you can jump start with AK's anymore.

Thinking of a Corolla was I. Much more are Camrys? Assume so would I as they are the Toyotas that run Nascar.

Mazdaspeed6 (awd) or speed3 if you need something newer (and not AWD.) I say this only because it was what I decided on back when I was looking for a sporty little modified car- and I still like it. Standard, good power, AWD, and easy to disable the traction control in the winter.

*But, hard on gas it is when a freak I drive like.

I am big proponent of the clay bar. Makes for a long day. Prelim wash. Clay bar. Main wash. Wax. Buff. Polish.  At least when you are done, you know that you've actually done something.

You clay the windshield too?  Never heard nor even thought of that.  I'm intrigued.

So you clay the paint- but the glass that you look through and is partially vertical to catch every bug, hunk of dirt and contaminant that you drive through goes untreated? Yeah- wash and clean the window with glass cleaner. Then clay it and wax it. Bugs don't stick, rain beads instead of sheets, and life is better.

*I say this as though I cannot believe that you never thought of it. Truth be told, I only discovered it two summers ago watching a few videos on detailing as I had severe oxidation on my '70 Westfailia... Still cannot get the fiberglass top looking like anything by weathered crap. But all of my windshields sparkle.

Yeah, I mean, who can afford a fucking Lexus, right. I think Asuka's statements are accurate about Toyota's outsourcing failures.

Thanks for the kind words, MT.

A Corolla? What kind of a Master Troll rolls in a Corolla?  What you want, my little green friend, is one of those new electric, Mustang, SUV abominations.

Thank you for reminding me that it is for our "little green friend." That helps in the choice. No Lexus, Toyota, or even Mazda. What he needs is a Dodge Ram... Or any other heavy diesel truck that can be modified to make people's day brighter.

Trollda...Corolla...it rhymes and is therefore meant to be. Like though a Mustang I would...or a Camero...or a Challenger.

No, an old Silverado I have already. I just want a decent, reliable daily driver car.

Kinda like these little guys I do too though:

Vs.:

Mazda: Sportier looking and more HP
Toyota: Better mileage and probably more reliable

Still to Corolla I am leaning.
