Nonsense; MV could have banned Rubini and ignored him. He was perfectly willing to do the same with Metron, as you are painfully aware. MV's walking away was entirely due to the election. I listened to hours and hours of old gabcasts, MV was sort of my guide to the Trump phenomenon and I was fascinated by it, the most surprising political thing that happened in my lifetime.
MV was utterly besotted by Trump. Trump was in everything, I got to the point where I braced myself whenever some unlikely topic was about to turn to Trump, just for the excuse to talk about him. I am sure he got massive doses of endorphins every time he mentioned his name -- it reminded me of this boyfriend I had (he was a hunky green-eyed Iowa farmboy with a thousand-watt smile, way too hot for me) where, at work, with my folks, pretty much anyone when we were apart, I couldn't help steering the conversation around to him just to bask in the reflected glory.
It's a bit different, in MV's mind Trump was a powerful fat father figure with a hot foreign wife, probably a father he never had but wished he did, but the love was much the same, he wanted to identify with Trump so badly. Trump's loss brought on deep grief and trauma and, like so many in those circumstances, he lashed out at the people around him, even though we were by-and-large Trumpers for the most part -- that didn't matter. That's why he put us on facebook, the authoritarian-censoring face of the new regime, as punishment. He was just angry and struck out at his public, as he saw it.
This reads like criticism but it is not. I like MV, I would buy him way too many beers and talk to him for hours if he wanted, he is a great conversationalist. We just do a lot of things sometimes for reasons that aren't apparent to us at the time, and then make up self-justifying reasons when we look back on them. I do the same thing.
Piffle; DVR was banned many times on BG. JS went into a prolonged work strike
at one point in the hopes of bringing his beloved commander in from the cold.
MV gave many reasons on the Gabcast as to his walking away from BG,
significantly all the trouble he had in responding to formal complaints.
But he would not name the one or the ones responsible. We all knew.
His excuse for the FB fiasco was supposedly for the benefit of old BGers.
Some place to keep in contact, warm themselves by the fire and reminisce.
His disappointment in the bizarre election was completely understandable.
The reasons he alluded to are similar to that of Patrick Byrne.
One doesn't have to go into a deep psychoanalysis to figure that out.
