I am willing to accept that statement, although I would like to see a mathematical definition of what exactly "is" a needle;  also if there is any significant difference between mathematically defined "needles" & similarly defined "pins."

My initial suspicion is that the "needle" & "pin" differ tangentially along a pair of eels line to "torii" & "spheres."
