Now I am going to rant. For anybody with a supervisor or manager like old WOTR- PLEASE DON"T BE A FUCKING MORON! There is this brand new virus out there. We just discovered that it can spread to others in your workplace. And strangely, some doctors have even speculated as to what some of the symptoms might be.
It has been a year and a half now. I make employees sign in every day declaring that they are symptom free (and I provide a list of symptoms), they sign in agreeing that they have a mask, and that they have sanitized their hands. Then they take and record their temperature. They enter through a door telling them to stay the hell out if they are sick. They are greeted with a stop sign pointing to a station with masks and sanitizer.
I am hoping that there is nobody here dumb enough to text their manager at 15:00 to let him know that you felt sick all night with a runny / stuffy nose and sort throat, but thought that you could power through it. However, now that the headache has started, you will be heading home.
I suspect that if you texted your manager not more that THREE WEEKS AGO that you woke up sick but were going to come in and try to "grind through the night" and you received a reply text that under no circumstances are you to go to work until you are either symptom free for 72 hours or have a negative test result that you MIGHT think that the same rules that applied three weeks ago still were in force.
I know. This pandemic is brand new. The rules are shocking. While we shut down society for the last year and a half and as a work place have had three individual outbreaks it would seem perfectly reasonable to come in for half a shift while you probably have this novel virus. But it is not.
I wonder if HR will give me a letter to write him up? I will be asking for one tomorrow. How fucking stupid can you be?
*As a side note of humour- this is a young employee who was terrified when the last guy tested positive. Different shift- and not a close contact. But he was concerned And now he is just "grinding through" his illness while at work.
Bloody hell. When will Darwin assert himself?
